The Lord Jesus said,
And this Gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. (Matt. 24:14 NIV)
Seven virtues of God were manifested in the Gospel of the Kingdom. As our outline, let us use the acronym KGOSPEL.
The Prophet Jeremiah wrote:
At that time they will call Jerusalem The Throne of the Lord, and all nations will gather in Jerusalem to honor the name of the Lord. (Jer. 3:17 NIV)
God is King. He established authority over His countless creations. God’s creation is so vast, and His dominion knows no bounds. And the seat of government of our Creator’s kingdom is called Jerusalem.
The Lord Jesus is called the King of kings. The only ones who are qualified to be called kings with Him are those who were created after God’s own image and likeness and those who belong to the new and everlasting covenant.
The apostle Paul wrote:
This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time. (2 Tim. 1:9 NIV)
God is love. The greatest love proclaimed by the Lord Jesus in the Scripture is to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. Yes, He did not only declare it but also demonstrated it. He revealed the highest form of love by laying down His own life for those He called friends.
Once man partakes of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, he will not be allowed to partake of the tree of life. But because of the grace and love of our God, He made the supreme sacrifice so that His people could be free from the covenant of death and partake of the covenant of life and live.
The Lord Jesus declared,
I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. (John 15:5 NIV)
God is one. This is the very reason why there is Jerusalem—a perfect realm of oneness. The first Jerusalem was supposed to be the holy city, where the Father, the Lord Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and God’s beloved people (His only creations who were fashioned after His own image and likeness) would dwell and reign eternally.
The fact that there would be a new Jerusalem proves that the dilemma truly happened before time began. God restoring the first Jerusalem and calling it New Jerusalem is the perfect plan of salvation.
The apostle Paul declared,
From this man’s descendants God has brought to Israel the Savior Jesus, as he promised. (Acts 13:23 NIV)
God is Saviour. The name of our Lord Jesus means ‘saviour’; our Creator has become our Saviour as well. This He did because we are His friends, His precious co-rulers in His magnificent perpetual kingdom.
It seems that the Scripture has given indications that in eternity past something off beam happened. There was a turn of events before the would-be kings took their due positions. This was the place where our Creator had to make that remarkably hard choice because it involved extremely painful sacrifice. Only God can do such a great feat. The Lord Jesus had to chase after us. He left the Father and entered earth to save us.
The angel declared,
Worship God! For it is the Spirit of prophecy who bears testimony to Jesus. (Rev. 19:10 NIV)
God is perfect. Why do we worship God? Because He alone is perfect and He is in full control—and the evidence is prophecy. Prophecy means events were already foretold even before they happen.
The apostle John was led to fall at his feet to worship the angel. But the angel himself stopped him and proclaimed the main reason why we should worship God: ‘It is the Spirit of prophecy who bears testimony to Jesus.’ This statement is actually the greatest manifestation of God’s power that literally put everything under His full control.
The apostle Paul proclaimed,
Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen. (1 Tim. 1:17 NIV)
God is eternal. He has no beginning, and He has no ending (He is the Alpha and the Omega). The infinite heaven was created because of the presence of our eternal God.
God’s creation is so vast, and out of all His numerous creations, there were those who were created after His own image and likeness (and they were to become kings with Him). His great plan was for Him together with these kings to govern His entire creations in His eternal kingdom. Jerusalem is the eternal kingdom of kingdoms, just as God is the eternal King of kings.
The apostle Paul declared,
But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother. (Gal. 4:26 NIV)
God is freedom. Our first spiritual birth in eternity happened in the first Jerusalem. But our first spiritual bodies underwent death, so we need to be born again (our second spiritual birth) in order to re-enter eternity—and this will at last happen by the coming of New Jerusalem (the final fulfilment of the promise).
The Lord Jesus (as the sacrificial lamb) willingly took the penalty of death in order for us to be free from the law (the old covenant) and for us to become one once more with the source of life (the new and everlasting covenant).
